Framing Day 5 (photo-technique)

Luckily for my assignment today, Adam has started a tradition/habit/comfort for Nadya for nap-times and bed-time.  He puts 3 blankets on her and then surrounds her with her stuffed animals.  I'm not sure if I'm doing it right but she doesn't complain.  After you snuggle her into bed she waves good-bye and off she goes to bed.  So easy.

It was quite dark in her room when I took this picture, so it's quite grainy since it was under-exposed.  Oh well, I was going more for capturing the memory.

I don't have a **photo-tip** today but I do have a darling story.

Dylan had a playdate on Monday with a friend from school.  When they came to play Nadya was already sleeping so his friend didn't see her until she woke up from her nap.  Dylan was super excited to introduce his baby sister to his friend.  And this is the conversation:

Dylan, "Hey, Tyson look at my beautiful baby sister, Nadya".

Tyson... ignoring Dylan.

Dylan, "Tyson, look -- look, isn't she the most beautiful baby sister ever?"

Tyson ... still ignoring Dylan.

Dylan, "Tyson, don't you wish you had a beautiful baby sister like mine?  She's soooo beautiful."

Tyson ... shakes his head no.

Holy 4th Birthday Batman!

I tried to make some cute scrapbooked birthday invites using my friends Cricut but I didn't have the patience.  I had planned to use the Cricut to cut out paper dolls dressed as Batman, but it took me 3 hours just to cut out some dolls, capes, cat ears & knight helmets (to make Batmans face mask) and I still had to cut out plenty of other things .... so I gave up and did what I do best .... take pictures of my kids and make digital cards!

Dylan told me that he wanted to have a BOYS only birthday party.  He was very clear that he didn't want any girls.  Oh boy!  I got a friend to come play with Nyomi upstairs but they managed to sneak into the party.  And then another girl managed to sneak into the party too when she saw Nyomi.  Luckily, Dylan was too busy having fun to care or even say anything about it and I'm so glad!

We had a special guest come to the party too!  We were sooooo lucky to have Aunt Baylee dress up as Batman.  We found Adam's mask and emblem from the last time he dressed up and we made her a cape from a trash bag we had in our pantry.  Dylan thought it was so cool!

Adam made the Batman cake this year.  Yummy!

Dylan gets super excited in the mornings if he thinks he can get a ride to school by Adam, since he gets to ride on a booster chair and that apparently makes him feel so grown up.  He can't WAIT to grow up and get going and doing stuff. He's already talking about driving.  sheesh.  Adam was making Nyomi her lunch for school and Dylan wanted one made for him too.  When we got home from eating lunch with April and Ella, he quickly came home to his lunch box and ate his cookies and left his sandwich untouched.  

It's fun to have a boy in the family. 

Dylan's sleeping Habits

Dylan likes to fall asleep EVERYWHERE except his bed.  If we want him to wake up from a nap we usually just put him in his bed and in a matter of minutes he's usually back downstairs.  He also usually likes to nap on our big sectional ... day or night.  He also sneaks into bed with us and pushes his dirty little feet in our faces.  He's been surprising me the past few nights that he has actually fallen asleep in his own bed, perhaps he's past his phase.

D-man

D: "Mommy, can I get a treat?"

M:  "Dylan, you've been grumpy today ... do you think you deserve a treat?"

D:  "I'm grumpy because I'm wearing this shirt."

(he was wearing his Grumpy from the seven dwarfs shirt)

AND,

we did get treats :)

Boys will be Boys

We had a play-date this week with one of Nyomi's friends from school.  The moment that the little girl came into the house, Dylan was on ...  he changed his voice, his mannerisms, and was so into them!  He cracked me up.  I was so glad that they didn't mind having him following their every move or mind that he started to chase them, which then turned into a fun game of tag.

He was jumping off the train table and at one point jumped off the couch too, to add some dramatic flare to his chase.

 

I can already see that he's going to be chasing the girls in Kindergarten :)

When I grow up ...

little legs

I love little legs

they tell a story of

adventure, fun, boo-boos and how many time there were cuddles.

It seems like my little guy is just full of adventure or he could just be very clumsy :)

He also wears mostly shorts.

I think I can remember each the major incident that resulted in a bruise or scrape.

They are in a way a tale to tell; he'll have many for sure.

He's brave for the most part and will yell back to me, "I'm okaaaaaaaaay!".

never too late

While I was picking-up our home after this weekends festivities, I felt the urge to decorate for Valentine's!  Yes ... I did it and Nyomi will be so excited when she gets home.

Nothing too BIG and fancy ... just a few hearts here and there to make it a little bit special.

So, because there were hearts and because I managed to somehow talk Dylan into taking his shirt off to wear angel wings ... here's a darling picture for today.

The kids are so excited for their Valentine's day parties at school ... especially my little MISS ... we've made bookmarks for her class :)

Little-Big Boy

We went shopping for Christmas jammies last night.  We started at Walmart and ended up at Target, where we found some cute ones.  I had to talk Dylan out of buying some pink ones with candy canes when I finally decided, WHO CARES ... he saw Santa on rocket ships and decided he was willing to trade.  Dylan does really have a mind of his own and will do things on his own time.  Meanwhile, he's trying his best to persuade me to change him into a booster seat in the car because he wants to ride like a BIG BOY and I'm just not ready for that just yet.  

Just yesterday after I took pictures of the girls he requested to have his own taken.  He's a funny guy in front of the camera.  He's either shy, silly or looking the other way.  He recently started making this strange looking smiley face ... it's a little awkward but so endearing.
