Framing Day 5 (photo-technique)

Day 4

and I'm running out of ideas.

I was not feeling well today.  I took a long nap after I woke up this morning.  Lucky me.

** Photo Tip **

I had Nyomi hold our Christmas wreath up away from her face and I used a 1.8 aperture and focused on her face.  The light was really fabulous outside this evening.

Framing Day 3 (photo-technique)

Today we have been trying to deal with PINK EYE in the home.  Trying not to contaminate the family is a JOB ...  I imagine myself as someone trying to wipe down a crime scene ... lots of anti-bacterial santizer, putting stuff in laundry and following Dylan around wiping anything that he touches ... so maybe nothing to do with a crime scene, haha!

**photo tip**

I took this photo today when the light was almost all gone.  I bumped up my ISO to 6400.  Made sure my shutter speed stayed at 100 (cause I couldn't sacrifice any shake on my part) ... why, 100?  I read somewhere that your shutter speed had to be 2x the focal length and since the lens I used was my nifty 50mm then, I figured 100 was safe.  

50mm, 1.4, 100 ss, 6400 ISO

Day 2 Framing (technique)

Today has been cloudy, cold, rainy and just AWESOME!!

I LOVE this weather.

It's been a busy morning and now, it's a busy day with homework and tending to Nadya.  Dylan had a very successful day of play and being in his jammies all day long.  He said he was wearing his Christmas jammies because it's almossssssssst Christmas eve.

** photo tip **

I metered on Dylan's face.  I put my camera right to his face and metered the light there and once it was correct on my meter I stepped back, focused and took the shot, even though my meter was over exposing by a lot when I stepped back.

Photography Technique - Framing shots Day 1

This week a friend and I are working on a different photo-challenge using a technique called "framing".

It's a very chilly-rainy day today.

Love these kinda days.  I even wore my very cute rainboots out.

Thought my Christmas tree looked very lovely illuminating our dark living area.  I used my walls and curtains to frame the tree.

** P.S**

Top photo:  I closed down my aperture to about 18 and used a high ISO (6400), my shutter speed was realllllllllly slow at about 20 or so, I held really still.  BUT, if you want some really BIG circles ... open up your aperture to the lowest number it goes (like 1.4 or 1.8) and then you'll get really nice bokeh tree. 

Bottom photo:  I switched to manual focus and turned my ring until I was satisfied with how the lights looked.

What's up?

I've been MIA from my own photo-challenge this week.  We were supposed to practice leading lines but that failed, so we said any picture will do ... and yet, I failed again.  But, this is why ... I've been working on sessions.  I had 3 sessions this past weekend.  AND it was so much fun and they gotta have them before the Holidays to give out as presents or just to simply beautify their homes with family treasures so, I'm like a little elf working hard on the computer making sure their images are beautiful.

Day 5 BW

Today

is

super

busy.

I'm trying to get all of these things done  around here before I leave for the weekend.  However, my little guy has been craving attention and I've been goivng it to him.

We had a picnic outside and so I decided to kick my feet up for 30 minutes and just relax and chat with my little guy.

The weather is lovely and crisp.

Why is it that the older my kids are getting the harder it is to leave them?

Day 4 BW Project

Super busy fun day today.

I barely made it with my photo.

Just came home from Nyomi's Christmas concert.  She was so beautiful on stage.  She couldn't stop smiling and singing so proudly.  She loves being on stage.

Today I'm thankful for my healthy children.

I brought dinner to a family this evening that just found out last week that their daughter has Lukemia.  I talked to the father today and he's being so strong and positive.  Their daughter is only 4 years old ... and has a pretty difficult 2 years ahead of her with intense treatments.  I'm counting my blessings.

Day 3 BW

It's 10:30 am today.  I'm home alone.  My mom took Nadya to the store and Dylan is at school.  Wow ... complete silence.  I thought about cleaning, lifting weights, wrapping presents, sewing, spray painting ... but instead I sit here mesmerized by Pinterest.  I'm looking for some inventive ideas to use on some of my blank canvas walls ... something fun, whimsical, interesting ... and there is LOTS on that site.

It'll soon be time for the noise to come home.

I will take time to play with them and at least lift the weights :)
